Finals

December 15, 2013December 16, 2013Kerry Mohnike

Blocks of time-certain testing,
presenting, performing,
praying.
And once final, breath.

It is I

Born in Whittier, CA and raised in Canby, OR and San Jose, CA, Kerry now resides in Ben Lomond, CA. A full-time, secondary education teacher, Kerry has a few passions: travel, writing, and certain people. She loves her husband and her children and hopes that they have productive happy lives. As an active church member, her poetry at times may seem antithetical to her beliefs--blame the narrator. She loves her job, her family, her two dogs, Bosco and Penny, and Spicey, the cat. If she could wish anything for the world, it would be the ever-so-trite-but nevertheless-truth of true love for one another that transcends the boundaries of race, religion, nationality, and other dividing criteria. Her perfect day would be waking up early, enjoying a cup of herb tea and a lemon scone, gathering the maps, driving for a couple of hours with a good conversationalist, finding a quiet beach, shedding the shoes, strolling on sand and hunting through tide pools, a hot reuben and A&W root beer, heading to an historic town or area and walking and reading about people and events which teach her something about fortitude and ingenuity, stopping at a bookstore and buying a biography, finding the local mom and pop cafe for dinner, going to a local show, a small gelato, writing a poem, and sharing a room with a view.
