Symbols with rounded, straight,
curved lines scripted together
to make meaning
inexplicably different from
one continent to another–
from Latin, German, Mandarin,
letters–like Hangol
combined in infinite ways
to transfer ideas, create emotions,
wound or woo
So, when I say “I love you,”
I just may mean it–
But when I write it; be certain I do.
And the language that I use
matters little to me-
I love you
Ich liebe dich
당신을 사랑
Te amo…
Because love is,
after all,
more than what we
strive to give and feel–
it’s what we strive
to be.
