Don’t Raise Your Arm at Me

I know I smiled when you put it down
I laughed like it didn’t matter
I winked at the kids and chided you some
I died just a few minutes early.

While not the first time,
it felt too real
It cannot happen again

I was not laughing inside then;
I am not laughing now.

Don’t raise your arm at me
Don’t do it.
